What is the past relationship between Melanie and Audrey, the nightclub owner?
When Andre and Melanie go to the nightclub for more investigations, Melanie reaches out to its owner, Audrey, to give her condolences for Nikki’s death. However, Audrey lashes out at Melanie, making us wonder, what is the past relationship with these two? How can someone in Third Class speak to Melanie this way and why does Melanie allow her?
A theory we have is that before Melanie become who she is, she was perhaps in the Second or Third Class and had many friends and acquaintances there. As such, they still have memories of her and she now being in such a higher position feels like betrayal to her. This would also explain how come Melanie wanted to help fix the machines after the snowstorm incident in the previous episode. Melanie quoted ‘I miss being an engineer’, indicating that she wasn’t always who she is now.
Why did the killer-bodyguard go to such lengths to kill Nikki and what did Nikki know?
The killer-bodyguard, Erik is stranded in the Third Class after killing Nikki and wonders how long the borders will remain closed. Did he not know about that borders would be closed? If he did, then why take such risks and end up where he is now?
We have a theory that Nikki knew something important. Something about the killer and who was the real mastermind. Of course the mastermind was revealed but LJ’s reasons for organizing the killings were not delved into. Maybe there’s a whole lot more and Nikki knew about those reasons.
Also, did the killer-bodyguard have feelings for LJ? Is that why he did what she asked him to? Our theory is that the bodyguard was very much in love with LJ and would have done anything she asked him to. Either that or since he was from the lower class and was used to gore and mayhem, he was bored of the prim proper lifestyle of the First Class and saw LJ’s bidding as a chance to do whatever he pleased.
Why does Melanie betray Andre?
After catching LJ and sending her to prison. Melanie and Andre are celebrating a win when Melanie betrays Andre by poisoning him and sending him to one of the Sleeper cells. This is a pivotal point in the series. Why would Melanie do that to Andre after all the help he’s given to her. A theory is that Melanie was afraid of Andre had come to know and the danger he now posed to the serenity of the Train. If he revealed to anyone else that the mastermind behind the killings had been in first class, all hell would have broken loose. Another theory is that Melanie feared that with a little digging, Andre would have uncovered her as Mr. Wilford and when this secret was revealed to everyone. Mayhem would have ensued on the Train.
This episode of Snowpiercer was a thrilling one and we can’t to wait to watch the next episodes to figure out what will come of Andre being missing. Will the Tail initiate an up rise with Josie in charge? How will Melanie explain to everyone including Bess Till about Andre’s disappearance.
