Upload Episode 9 Review – Season 1
The (9) ninth episode of the hit satirical sci-fi/romance series, Upload, picks up from the scare of the previous episode that Nathan had been wiped away when the machine storing his memories was dropped into a pool of water. Fear not, he’s still alive (okay, not living but well, conscious) in this episode.
In a world of hundreds of TV series, Upload continues to stand out with humour filled and thrilling episode. With the ability of not focusing on just one character, other characters and their relationships were explored as well the main characters, Nathan and Nora. The goofy Luke and his angel Aleesha must work together in Lakeview to win money in this episode. Based on their tumultuous past in the previous episodes, do you think they can? And what do you think the puzzle could possibly be?
Review; Upload Season 1 Episode 9
Nathan decides to step down as a regular Upload at Lakeview and opt for the 2Gig status in order to be free of Ingrid’s hold on him. He phones his former best friend and when one thing leads to another, Nathan’s finds out why Jamie was really ignoring him all this while. His quest to find out his killer meets a twist when someone close to find turns out to know his killer is and refuses to divulge any information. Can you guess who? It might not be who you are thinking of right now.
Nora’s on and off boyfriend is also reintroduced in this episode when Nora’s boss, Lucy threatens to expose Nora for falling in love with her Upload, Nathan. In her bid to get the manager off her back, Nora brings Byron to a work function that will lead up to an event. An event that will have ripple effects in the next episode as it will determine how strong Nathan and Nora’s love is and expose who might have been behind the death of Nathan.
And where’s Nathan’s girlfriend Ingrid? She falls apart when Nathan tells her they are breaking up, which is predictable given how obsessed with Nathan she is. She ends up arguing with her father after he doesn’t comfort her and secrets are spilled out and will have an effect on Nathan in the next episode.
Before the update 8.9 there was an egg hunt. A quick puzzle that involved 1 million USD to the winner and $1000 to the upload’s angel. The Lakeview egg hunt comes to an end and the not so popular David Choak comes out successful. Aleesha taunts Dylan before logging out of the system and while a scheduled update, the event previously discussed, is ongoing for the people of Lakeview, Nora must find a way to help Nathan stay awake throughout without alerting her boss and the numerous bus boys in Lakeview.
Nora visits Nathan and wakes him up; in the distance, you can see the update 8.9 moving towards their direction. They both finally kiss and Nathan uses the code exposure tool that Nora gave him to make them invisible so nobody can see them on the balcony. Nora leaves Lakeview and then on her screen for Nathan, it says, “update paused ;do you want to restore the Upload’s memories?”. Nora informs Nathan the consequences that may occur, as a good angel and friend she gives the pros and cons of the update 8.9 and also getting his memories back.
The penultimate episode of Lakeview combines humour, romance, mystery and thriller in an amazing blend and leaves the watcher anxious for the finale episode. Hold on tight because in the next episode, everything will be put to test. Shocking revelations will be made and Nathan may either end up destroyed once and for all or will obtain closure on who killed him.
